La Débraillée x Michael de Pasquale
Parisian label La Débraillée’s minimal handbags are designed to provide versatility for our daily essential – bags we carry to hold what is important to us. In photographer Michael De Pasquale’s serie ‘Tension’, we see notions of gravity and holding what is dear to it.
As a trained Product Designer, Alice Rosignoli applies function and form as the key elements in creating practical and aesthetically appealing bags. The cleancut shape of the bags are inspired by modernist architecture, minimal art and design. Putting great emphasis on functionality, she speaks with people around her to find out their needs, preferences and expectations from a bag. Deviating from the seasonal fashion system, La Débraillée advocates slow and essential fashion, designing non-seasonal collection only once per year. This collection focuses on new ways to wear your bags, seeking a new cool attitude by combining pure geometric shapes that, in turn, hide unexpected details.
Still life photographer Michael De Pasquale, also the photographer of La Debraillee's lookbook, contributed his photo serie ‘Tension’ to the visual story. Neon strings transverse a stark white frame. They stretch forth from a mass which At first, the Characteristics of are hidden in a confusion of diffuse material. Unapparent to the viewer, a simplification of the system takes place. The unnecessary is removed, and a coarse organic substance is exposed. It's odd rugged shape is harnessed under considerable tension by a diffused supple material. Light plays across the opposing elements in a display of forced harmony. Under the pressure of the system, the materials give way to one another. When in contact the rugged mass becomes more diffused and the supple shows stress taking an average shape from the mass. The viewer is left to imagine the sudden collapse of this frailty under the relentlessness of gravity.
