AH/OK x Nick Prideaux
Two stories about color and finding beauty in the smallest details are brought together: fashion label AH/OK’s ‘Bloom’ collection shows instinctive traces of color and Nick Prideaux’s photographs are all about simplicity through subtraction and focussing on bold color and light.
Photographer Nick Prideaux was born in Australia and has travelled often during his studies and photography and film projects; he lived in Australia, China, Japan and is currently based in Thailand. He explored various art forms, but Nick’s true passion is in photography and film as he believes they are honest and articulate mediums. For Nick photography is about the connection to the image, each of his images take Nick back directly to the time and place where he took the photographs. It is a personal approach - a personal diary of his life to keep his memories safe and to document the quiet moments. The images are taken spontaneous, Nick’s goal is to capture that specific fleeting, meaningful moment. Nick’s photography and video’s evoke a feeling of personal nostalgia and finding beauty within the small details.
Milan based fashion label AH/OK is founded by the designerduo Claudia Carieri and Francesca Errani. AH/OK creates beautiful seasonless and timeless collections, always with a clean and minimal touch - and with a focus on prints. For their current ‘Bloom’ collection, they focus on top’s - which is a natural evolution of AH/OK’s former collection of kimono’s: loose sleeves, boxy silhouette and relaxed fitting.
The ‘Bloom’ collection consists out of four tops with different patterns on cotton and a lightweight, versatile sarong in cotton veil. The patterns are created with fingertips dipped in color instead of brushes, which results in spontaneous instinctive traces of color. The patterns contain palettes of fresh tones and are mixed with sophisticated color combinations: lemon and gold accents, deep blue, touches of ice blue and aquamarine, greens ranging from mint to forest and jade - together they create a composition of an abstract garden. Everything is made, printed and carefully tailored in Italy.
