Doodlage x Nicholas Mellefont
Bringing the work of fashion label Doodlage and visual artist Nicholas Mellefont together, we see creations of new visuals from everyday patterns by meticulous compositions and assemblage.
The New Delhi based fashion label Doodlage brings sustainability into exclusive high street fashion. London College of Fashion graduate Kriti Tula upcycles high quality industrial fabrics and ‘assembles’ them into high-end street wear with edgy patterns. The fabrics are sourced directly from factories who would otherwise throw away the leftover materials.
To make sure that every garment has its own identity, Doodlage puts great emphasis on cut, fabric and color, redefining the entire concept of individuality.
This also ensures that no two garments are the same – they can be cut from the same pattern but the raw materials are always different.
The Melbourne based visual artist Nicholas Mellefont makes the observer rethink and reinterpret what they see. He reconstructs seemly ordinary encounters into perceptible yet abstract visuals. Each image represents its own interpretation of the subject’s own existence against the surrounding environment. Each frame is carefully composed through constant scanning, dissecting and reassembling. Mellefont’s works question the nature of image creation and interpretation, inquiring into the reciprocal relationship between the observer and the observed.
