For AW16, Swiss accessories label Marlich tells a story of Swiss ‘cliché’, and challenges people’s common perception of Switzerland. Through Swiss landscape as subject, photographer Bärbel Praun investigates our society’s relationship with landscape. Both work questions the authentic versus the artificial.
Guided by the label’s overarching concept of the intentional contrast between organic and synthetic materials, Marlich’s AW16 collection continues to bring organic leather and PVC together. The glossy leather introduced in this collection reflects the cliché image of ‘total glamour’.
Bärbel Praun photo series ‘gruss und kuss, die berge sind schön’, (English: ‘hugs and kisses, the mountains are beautiful’) was developed in Swiss, Austrian and Italian Alps in 2006. Here, the mountainside presents itself as a product for holiday and sports, as model-like scenery of perception and background for the everlasting longing for wilderness and unaffected nature. The subject of Praun’s photographic work has always been landscape, natural and artificial spaces. ‘Landscape’ of course is a social phenomenon and its meaning depends on our cultural interpretation. Our society’s perception of landscape is a construct, deeply connected with the longing for the idyllic and sublime.

Marlich is an up and coming bags and accessories brand based in Lausanne Switzerland. The Barnett debut collection consists of wallets with card holders and hand bags with bag organizers. The materials of each model distinguishes itself based on the following properties: the quality of the leather and the plastic-like feel. The product range is crafted by an artisan leather manufacturer in France. The hidden pockets allow the wearer to hide certain objects that are not meant to be transparent at first glance. The brands name stems from the arabic phrase "it's all right". Its philosophy is to transport you to a new world full of light.
